Pat Thomas was the founder of Heyday Records, a San Francisco based
label that he ran from 1988 to 1992, in which he released the debut
albums from Barbara Manning, Chris Cacavas (Green on Red), Jack Waterson
(Green on Red), Steven Roback/Viva Saturn (Rain Parade), Sonya Hunter,
and the Bedlam Rovers.
After Heyday, during the mid 1990's; he was an A&R man at Normal Records
in Germany, where he continued to work with many of the original Heyday
recording artists plus Steve Wynn, Hannah Marcus, Dan Stuart, Epic Soundtracks,
and Cordelia's Dad.
In 1997, he teamed with Russ Tolman (True West) to help start Innerstate
Records in Berkeley, at which Pat continued releasing artists he'd
worked with at Heyday and Normal as well as a double CD/three album
reissue of The Donner Party (featuring Sam Coomes of Quasi).
Pat has also produced many reissues/expanded editions of various Dream
Syndicate albums for several different labels including Rykodisc.
Other projects include the 3 CD Barbara Manning "Super Scissors" box
set, a career spanning Steve Wynn compilation, collections of previously
unreleased vintage Green On Red and Rain Parade recordings and Epic
Soundtracks' posthumous album.
